“Poetry in Cursive Script”by Zhang Ruitu

Zhang Ruitu (1570-1644), his courtesy name is“Changgong”and his art name “Ershui”, alias “Guoting Jushi”, “Jieyuan Jushi”and “Baihao Anzhu”. He was born in Jinjiang, Fujian. He was one of the Four Great Calligraphers in Ming dynasty and had great influences on the Japanese calligraphers, who gave him the nickname “Mercury.  His calligraphy is unique and elegant, while his landscape paintings are vigorous and fresh. He is also good at painting Buddha. His masterpieces include “Eight Autumn Poems by Du Fu”.
