Introduction

Porcelain culture is one of the most important and gorgeous chapters of Chinese traditional culture. Pottery is a common treasure of mankind. However, porcelain is an important contribution of the Chinese nation to the world civilization. China won its name as "Country of Porcelain".

Mature in the Western Han Dynasty, the Maritime Silk Road of South China Sea developed rapidly and Chinese pottery and porcelain had been exported in large quantities to foreign countries by sea from the Tang Dynasty. In the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, routes from the South China Sea to different continents all witnessed the glory. Therefore the overseas trade line was also named as “Road of Porcelain”.

Chinese ceramics played an important role in promoting the world civilization. Under the influence of Chinese ceramic industry, many countries in the East and West gradually developed their own ceramic industries.
